Setup Surcharge Policy

Modified on Tue, 2 Dec at 9:34 AM

A Surcharge Policy allows you to add extra fees during specific dates, times, or booking conditions. It automatically applies based on the customer’s pickup date and time, as well as how far in advance the booking was made.

When is a Surcharge Policy Useful?

  • Peak hour pricing
  • Christmas, New Year, or other seasonal surges
  • Last-minute booking premiums (e.g., bookings made within 4 hours cost more than those made 24–48 hours in advance)

How Surcharge Policies Work

A single policy can contain multiple rules based on dates, times, days of week, lead time, distance traveled, and more.

To create a new rule, tap Add.

Configurations Available in a Surcharge Policy

1. Basic Details

  • Name – Name of the policy
  • Start Date (Required) – When the surcharge begins
  • End Date (Optional) – When it stops applying

2. Time & Schedule Controls

  • Time Range – Time window the surcharge applies (based on the customer’s pickup date/time)
  • Repeat Options
    • Day of Week – e.g., Monday/Wednesday/Friday
    • Single Day – One specific date
    • Yearly – Recurring annual surges (Christmas, New Year’s Eve)

3. Booking Rules

  • Booking Type – Apply to On-Demand, Reservations, or both
  • Operation Zone – Select which zone(s) this surcharge applies to
  • Booking Lead Time
    • In addition to the surcharge you can also charge more based on how early the customer books
    • Example:
      • Less than 4 hours notice → +50%
      • More than 24 hours notice → +0%

4. Distance-Based Rules

  • Distance Tier – Apply different surcharge amounts depending on how far the customer is traveling

5. Surge Type

Choose how the surcharge is calculated:

  • Fixed Amount
  • Percentage of Base Fare
